ApexChroma is pleased to announce that OPIX has been selected as a finalist in the Test & Measurement Product of the Year category at the 2026 Instrumentation & Electronics Awards.
The recognition comes as ApexChroma moves forward with the commercialisation of OPIX and continues to expand engagement with customers, research organisations and industry partners in the UK and internationally.
OPIX is a non-contact imaging system developed to provide a more integrated approach to surface appearance measurement.
Surface appearance is influenced by multiple characteristics, including colour, gloss, texture and translucency. Conventional measurement approaches often require separate instruments and typically measure only individual points on a sample.
OPIX is designed to capture multiple appearance characteristics within a single measurement while also providing spatial information across the measured surface. This enables R&D and quality teams to understand not only overall measurement values, but also how appearance varies across a sample.
The system has been developed for a wide range of laboratory R&D and quality-control applications, including cosmetics and personal care, hair, coatings, textiles, plastics, advanced materials and academic research.
Reaching the finalist stage represents another milestone for OPIX as ApexChroma continues to build its commercial presence in the UK and international markets.
Alongside delivering OPIX to customers, ApexChroma is continuing to expand its market engagement through product demonstrations, application validation, industry events and direct engagement with customers and research partners.
As commercial adoption develops, the company will continue to broaden the application of OPIX across different industries and strengthen its presence in the appearance measurement and test & measurement markets.
